What is yeast?

- Barley malt
- Hydrolyzed vegetable protein (used as an ingredient in processed meats, soups, sauces, seasonings and snacks)
- Monosodium glutamate or MSG
Each of the above is an alternative name for ‘yeast’, and you should avoid eating these foods.

It is vital that you always read the label. Even if you trust a brand that is predominantly free-from, there may be occurrences where the food does contain yeast.
